3 Fun things to do in Rayong, Thailand

1. Pang Chang Rayong, (Chang or Elephant Cafe)

When you are in Rayong, you must plan a visit to this beautiful café. It is not just a simple café that serves coffee and ice cream but you can somehow call it a mini zoo. Especially if you have kids, this will be their favorite visit. It offers a wide range of activities and there are many animals that your kids will enjoy feeding and petting. This café an open outdoor space that covers about 50 acres of land with a beautiful lake in between. There are  activities like pony riding, bird feeding, rabbit feeding, guinea pig feeding and much more. Sheep and goat enjoys eating fresh grass. You can purchase animal food for 20 Baht per pack. There are many beautiful set up for you to take pictures and believe it or not, there is an in house shooting stadium. So for anyone that loves shooting as a hobby or practice, this place offers a wide variety of guns for shooting. There is a professional trainer that will help guide you through the process, if you are a new comer. 

You can also enjoy an elephant ride and feed them some bananas here. You can purchase snacks and drinks at different stalls. There is an indoor café that offers wide variety of drinks, coffee, ice cream and snacks that will cool you up on a sunny day. The entry fee to this café is 50 Baht per person. This is a nice place for family visit if you are spending your holidays in Rayong.

2. The Rayong Aquarium

The Rayong Aquarium is an amazing place to explore the underwater world. It is just a short distance from Bangkok. We have many beautiful fish and sea plants in our aquarium. The centre conducts study, research and testing regarding marine biology and behaviors of marine life. A large aquarium with a tunnel allows visitors to see various beautiful fish as well as economic-related creatures living in the mangrove forest such as cuttlefish, crab, giant clam, and horseshoe crab. The outdoor aquarium also houses various marine life. The turtle pond houses hawksbill turtles, olive turtles, and leatherback turtles. The fish pond houses large species of fish Visitors can witness the real underwater world in a special pond that houses starfish, anemone and sea cucumber. Various fishery tools in miniature are also displayed. The Fossil Museum exhibits stuffed and extinct animals as well as a display of rare animals such as humpback dolphin and Irrawaddy Dolphin Seafood products are available on sale outside the building. The Rayong Aquarium is open from Wednesday to Friday during 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. On weekends and holidays, it operates during 10.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Please note that it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. 3. Island hopping

Rayong is surrounded by beautiful islands and From Koh Samet, you can make a day out to explore the adjacent Koh Kudi and the nearby islands. The crystal clear water offers excellent diving opportunity among splendid marine life including batfish, reef fishes, black coral and  fan. You should visit :

 

  • Koh Man Nai
  • Koh Man Klang and
  • Koh Man Nok

 

 These tiny islands remain pristine and have excellent coral reefs.
